THE FIRST ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET WAS DEVELOPED

ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEETS - THEN AND NOW

In 1978 the first electronic spreadsheet was developed. It was originally designed as a calculating aid. Spreadsheets have now evolved, thanks to the addition of graphics and Graphic User Interfaces (GUI), into a user-friendly, problem solving tool. The spreadsheets are designed for businesses and with the novice user in mind. Beginning in 1990 developments began being made in the area of 3-D spreadsheets.

1983 KAPOOR CREATES LOTUS 1-2-3

Kapoor created Lotus 1-2-3 for the IBM PC in 1983. IBM recently purchased Lotus for 3.5 billion dollars in order to acquire Lotus Notes, a sophisticated business communication and training product. Mitch had long since sold Lotus so he didn't get a piece of this.
