1988 WORK ON STANDARDIZATION OF C++ BEGINS

The term "ANSI C" refers to the American National Standards Institute's standard for the programming language C. Most current C compilers are ANSI C compilers, but there are some commonly used C compilers out there that are not current. For example the cc command on Sun workstations running Pre-Solaris 2 operating systems is not an ANSI C compiler. In that case the ANSI C compiler is the command acc and can be obtained from Sun.
