topMILITARY RECORD

Summary:

Twenty years service as a United States Marine. Career is characterized by a balance of leadership experience and technology application. Broad training background extends from one-on-one instruction in general military subjects, to teaching programmers on the job, to guiding officer candidates through leadership training, to teaching advanced research seminars in a university environment. Engineering experience spans planning and implementation of IBM mainframe systems, application development in database systems, transition to microcomputers, Local Area Network design, and high speed Wide Area Network design and implementation.

Military Assignments:

·        Jul 79: Entered the Marine Corps as a 2ndLt, via the Platoon Leader's Class program. Assigned to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. Graduated second in a class of two hundred and fifteen.

·        Dec 79: Entered Data Systems Officer's Course, Quantico, Virginia.

·        Apr 80: Assigned as Programming Officer, 5th Force Automated Services Center, Detachment A, Second Force Service Support Group.
Jul 83: Transferred to the Information Systems Management Officer (ISMO) staff, 3d Force Service Support Group, Okinawa Japan. Deployed to Korea for Exercise Bear Hunt 84 and was promoted to Captain.

·        Jul 84: Entered the Naval Post-graduate School, Monterey, California.

·        Jun 86: Graduated from the Naval Post-graduate School with a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and was transferred to Marine Corps Central Design and Programming Activity, Quantico, Virginia. Became the System's Software Officer for the Marine Corps. Served as ISMO for Logistics Exercise, 1990.

·        Aug 90: Assigned as the Marine Officer Instructor, Naval Reserve Officer's Training Course, University of Virginia and was promoted to Major.

·        Oct 93: Transferred to Marine Corps Systems Command to be the Command ISMO.

·        Aug 96: Assigned to Second Force Service Support Group as ISMO and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, responsible to the Commander for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers.

·        Oct 96: Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

·        May 97: Became Second Force Service Support Group Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6.

·        Dec 97: Assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) headquarters as the MEF ISMO.
